The refurbishment of the Melbourne Institute of Technology Argus Building commenced in March 2013 in Melbourne’s CBD.
Rectification works have involved both the design and engineering of significant structural repairs to the existing suspended floor slabs. Works were also undertaken to fill in voids in order to achieve required floor capacities.
Repair works have also included the replacement of windows and frames on all facades while overcoming challenges associated with the removal of lead paint and asbestos.
The installation of a new core & shafts, a mezzanine floor and other structural steel works will give life back to the old building and allow the Argus Building, a Melbourne landmark, to thrive once again.
