Penleigh & Essendon

14th Nov 2013

Construction has begun on the Penleigh & Essendon Grammar School facilities at the East Keilor campus; this is the fourth stage of redevelopment at this campus and is valued at approximately $20 million.

Works include the construction of two new buildings, with floor areas of 1,350sqm and 3250sqm respectively, as well as the refurbishment of three existing school buildings. These new buildings are to replace existing classrooms and an existing administration building. The refurbishment of existing buildings will include the construction of a new full size commercial kitchen and canteen, as well as a boardroom and administration wing. Extensive external hard landscaping and courtyard features will also be undertaken.

The school has once again engaged Award Winning architects McBride Charles Ryan to design and oversee the works. As with previous works undertaken by Construction Engineering at Penleigh & Essendon Grammar, the works are being completed to a high architectural finish and include many intricate design features. Features include curved internal walls and an external façade of multi coloured curved face brickwork fixed to the post tensioned concrete structure.

The new buildings at the Middle Girls School will complement and promote the high quality aesthetic already enjoyed by the school community at the other Penleigh & Essendon Grammar campuses.
